Meriwest Credit Union Announces the Winners of the 2007 Essay Contest

SAN JOSE, CA - Meriwest Credit Union, one of the largest credit unions serving Silicon Valley, the Greater Bay Area and Tucson, Arizona, today announced the winners of their 2007 Essay Contest.
The topic was "How important is good credit and how will you manage it in your life after high school?" Our judges looked for accuracy, content, clarity of expression, grammar and composition in all the entries. The judging was completed the 1st of February and the winners have now been notified.
The First Place winners are as follows:
- 12th Grade -- Lorraine J. of San Jose, CA
- 11th Grade -- Wesley L. of Milpitas, CA
- 10th Grade -- Daniel F. of Tucson, AZ
- 9th Grade -- Jenna G. of Los Gatos, CA
"Based upon the number of essays we received, this topic really struck a chord with our community," said Christopher Owen, President and CEO of Meriwest Credit Union. "Understanding and maintaining good credit is the foundation for a solid financial life. The theme that ran through all of the winning essays was responsibility and frugality. I am proud to say that our contest winners have mastered these concepts."
