Credit Unions Come Together in Cooperation to Support The Women's Career Closet of San Jose

04/28/08
SAN JOSE, CA - Four Bay Area Credit Unions announced today that they will partner together in the spirit of community cooperation to collect women's business clothing and accessories for Career Closet, a volunteer-based organization that provides business attire and other services to local women seeking employment. Career Closet helps women in our community gain and retain employment, advance their careers and improve family stability.
Starting May 1st and running through May 9th, the San Jose offices of Meriwest, KeyPoint, National 1st, and Commonwealth Credit Unions will begin accepting donations from the public and their employees of clothing and accessory items for Career Closet. Career Closet facilitates putting the public's generous clothing donations together with the right person in need of interview or work clothing. Please bring any donations to a branch of one of these credit unions on a hanger in a condition that they can be used immediately upon receipt. Unfortunately, the Career Closet really does not have the means to clean or press clothing.
"As a women's career clothing provider, we bridge the gap between training and resumes and getting the job of their dreams," said Jean Cecil, Executive Director of Career Closet. "The partnership between these credit unions exemplifies the dedication they all have to the community and, particularly, to women of modest means. As for the members of these credit unions, you may never know how valuable your thoughtfulness was to someone in need."
"The Career Closet helps people's dreams come true," said Gregory Meyer, Community Relations Manager for Meriwest Credit Union, "Bringing these Credit Unions together to support the Women's Career Closet of San Jose is especially important in these difficult economic times. Together, we can make a significant difference for the families participating in the Career Closet program."
