The home, owned by an IBM retiree and his cancer survivor spouse, was renovated as part of Rebuilding Together's Springtime Home Repair program. Meriwest volunteers painted the home, performed various repairs, and installed a new gas oven for the family.
These volunteers were part of a greater effort focused on seniors, the disabled, and children. Rebuilding Together reported that 250,000 volunteers took part in 9,000 different home and community projects during the month of April.
"We have always supported our employees in their individual community volunteer work," said Christopher Owen, President and CEO of Meriwest and member of Rebuilding Together's Honorary Board of Directors. "The day that Meriwest spends volunteering with Rebuilding Together is very special. We volunteer together and our team has a very specific purpose that day: Make somebody's home a better place to live."
"Year after year, Meriwest Credit Union takes on a challenging Rebuilding Together project and this year was no exception," said Deanne Everton, Program Director for Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley. "We appreciate the dedication of Christopher Owen and the Meriwest Credit Union Team of volunteers. We look forward to having them back again next year."
