4th Street Bowling Alley Moves to Complete Renovations with Meriwest Commercial Loan

SAN JOSE, CA - Meriwest Credit Union, one of the largest credit unions serving Silicon Valley, the Greater Bay Area and Tucson, Arizona, announced today that they have funded a loan to Ken Nakatsu, owner of San Jose's 4th Street Bowl, to complete the interior and exterior work planned as part of the overall renovation of the nearly 50 year old bowling institution. Mr. Nakatsu has already installed new pin setters and high definition flat panel scoring screens. Further work will be done to improve the billiards area, lounge, carpets, electrical, plumbing, and the coffee shop. A new Pro Shop was recently installed for the many league bowlers served by the 4th Street Bowl. The exterior improvements were financed by a grant through the City of San Jose's Redevelopment Agency.
4th Street Bowl is the only bowling alley in Downtown San Jose that still caters to league bowlers and now boasts 14 leagues; that is three more leagues than the 11 that had competed there in 2006. The lanes are a great draw for locals and its Karaoke Bar is well known as a favorite haunt of U.S. Congressman Mike Honda.
"Bowling is a great sport and our community has lost too many family bowling centers to property development. Our loan has assisted Mr. Nakatsu in supporting the renovations of a favorite community gathering place," said Rich Borland, Asst. Vice President of Business Banking at Meriwest Credit Union. "Now the bowling league members and families of our community can rest assured that they will be able to gather together and play at the 4th Street Bowl for many years to come."
"This is a place for family and friends to gather and enjoy themselves," said 4th Street Bowl owner Ken Nakatsu, "We are not changing the atmosphere of the place, we are making the atmosphere better! Bowlers of all skill levels are invited to come down and bowl a few frames."
